Basic Information (Description):

The American Studies program offers students an opportunity to understand the complex cultures that are labeled as “American.” Students study history, cinema, literature, theater, and other forms of cultural expression and cultural definition. The curriculum focuses on using American culture as a laboratory to test theories on the workings of culture. Students are required to take 11 courses in the major, in addition to a senior seminar.
