Admision Requirements:
San Francisco State University admission criteria are: high school graduation; have a GED or the California High School Proficiency Exam; meeting the eligibility index with the student’s GPA and ACT/SAT scores; completing the college preparatory work of 4 years of English, 3 years of Mathematics, 3 years of Natural Science, 3 years of Social Science, 2 years of Foreign Language, and 3 electives, with a C or better; Students will also be required to complete the English Placement Test and the Entry Level Mathematics Test before being able to enroll on classes.
Basic Information (Description):
The BA in Anthropology offers student an interdisciplinary approach to the study of different current cultures. The goals of the major are: providing a over encompassing vision of humanity and global culture in addition to a higher sensitivity to diversity, and to train students to obtain teaching and research or careers in multiple areas. The major is designed around core theory courses, courses in three specific areas (Social Inequality: Kin, Gender, Race and Class, Cultural Diversity: Peoples and Places, and Applying Anthropology: Methods and Practicum), and electives in archaeology, physical anthropology, cultural anthropology, social anthropology, or applied anthropology. No picking of subfields is necessary, however if student want to focus in a specific area they can design their curriculum with their major adviser.
