Candidates for Admission for the Master of Arts Program are required to hold a Bachelor's degree form an accredited college or University. The average GPA for accepted students has been of a minimum of "B-" (80) in all undergraduate courses. All applicants must have a background in the liberal arts, and have graduate-level English and writing proficiency. Students should submit official transcripts, letters of recommendation, a personal statement, and an academic writing sample of more than 1000 words.
Basic Information (Description):
The MA in American Studies offers students the opportunity to study the culture, history, literature, and arts of the Unites States. The program is interdisciplinary and emphasizes the history and culture of Hartford and of the Connecticut Valley. The program is flexible and allows students to explore the many areas that compose the American culture. The program encourages students to combine classroom learning with research and internships in libraries, museums, archives, among other institutions in Hartford.
