Master of Arts in American Studies

The average GPA for accepted students has been of a minimum of "B-" (80) in all undergraduate courses. All applicants must have a background in the liberal arts, and have graduate-level English and writing proficiency. Students should submit official transcripts, letters of recommendation, a personal statement, and an academic writing sample of more than 1000 words. The MA in American Studies offers students the opportunity to study the culture, history, literature, and arts of the Unites States. The program is interdisciplinary and emphasizes the history and culture of Hartford and of the Connecticut Valley. The program is flexible and allows students to explore the many areas that compose the American culture.
