Admission criteria for the FSU are: having graduated form a regionally accredited high school, if the student is a Florida resident, he/she should present at least a “B+” average in all academic subjects and test scores higher than 23 (composite) on the ACT or 1100 (critical plus math) on the SAT. The grade requirement for non-Florida residents is even higher. The Committee takes into account, the essay the students write, the pattern and quality of courses and curriculum, advanced classes, grades, class rank, and academic objectives. Students who bring outstanding athletic, visual and performing arts skills or, CARE applicants will have special consideration at the time of admission. FSU urges students to take in their high school career: 4 years of English, 3 years of Mathematics, 3 years of Natural Science, 3 years of Social Science, 2 years of Foreign Language, and 3 electives in order to fulfill the minimum required for admission. Additionally, requirements to get accepted to the major in communication include: students must have a 3.00 GPA on all coursework done at FSU, passing score on CLAST, an application form completed and submitted to the Department of Communication, having already completed 43 credit hours of general coursework, and having completed all Liberal Studies requirements (including the writing and mathematics requirements).
Basic Information (Description):
Students majoring in Advertising will develop many skills related to account management, creative strategy, and media research and planning. Additionally, the major prepares students for careers in management, public relations, and advertising. Furthermore, 39 hours are required to complete the major, the language proficiency requirement must be completed, the maintenance of a general 3.0 GPA throughout the college career is also a must, and students are encouraged to follow a certain suggested curriculum handed in to him/her once he/she is accepted to the program. Candidates are also encouraged to get an internship.
