Admission to the University of Maryland is based on academic performance. The committee focuses on previous academic achievement and extracurricular activities to make a decision. Students must show that they have taken in high school, at least four units of English, two unit of Mathematics, three units of Social Sciences, two units of Physical Education, and electives. Students are also required to have a minimum GPA of 2.0.
Basic Information (Description):
The Communications major allows students to study the place of communication in humanity and the role of communication in human relations. Students are able to choose from these concentrations: organizational communication, public relations, intercultural communication, political communication, conflict management, cognition and persuasion, rhetorical theory, history of rhetoric, and criticism of public discourse. The major seems to be very thorough, tackling the main issues relevant for a communications student.
