Box 1848, University, MS 38677 (662) 915-6942, econdept@olemiss.edu http://www.olemiss.edu/depts/economics/undergraduate_program.htm In Admission is based on the completion of the College Preparatory Curriculum (CPC) with a 3.2 high school GPA average; or a 2.50 GPA and a minimum of 16 on the composite ACT, or 760 on the SAT reading/mathematics; students who complete the CPC with a class rank in the top 50 percent and a minimum of 16 on the ACT or 760 on the SAT; students wit a 2.00 GPA, and 18 on the ACT or 860 on the SAT critical reading /mathematics; and students who meet the certification requirements for the national Collegiate Athletic Association. The College Preparatory Curriculum includes 4 English courses, 3 Mathematics courses, 3 Science Courses, 3 courses in the Social Sciences, 1 or 2 Computer Science courses, and a foreign language. Now, Mississippi residents and do not meet the requirements may enter the Academic Screening Program prior to the beginning of the summer session, and gain later admission and academic assistance if they have a minimum 2.00 GPA average. The BA in Economics allows you to acquire a quantitative foundation as well as analytical skills. Students will study complex economic systems as well as other economics concepts. The website describes the kinds of jobs an economics major may get, but it does not describe the specific courses or coursework that the student should follow to acquire their BA in Economics.
