Admission to the University of California San Diego is competitive. The most important criteria is the high school academic record (quality and level of the classes, average GPA, and grade trends) and SAT-I (average of 1140) or ACT tests. The committee also considers the personal statement, talents, work experience, the letter of recommendation, and extracurricular activities . International students must take the TOEFL and get a minimum score of 550 or better (213 or better on the computer-based TOEFL).
Basic Information (Description):
The BA in Art Education offers students preparation to become art teachers for the community schools. The program consists of art history, studio, art education, and education courses. The program offers a multi facet and multicultural approach, integrating the four visual art disciplines of art criticism, art production, art history, and philosophical aesthetics. The program is closely related to the Single Subject Teacher Preparation Program in the Graduate School of Education, and the university students work toward the preliminary and clear teaching credentials for the state of California. Allowing them to teach art at all levels, Kindergarten through the Twelfth grade, in the public schools.
