Admission criteria to San Jose State University are the following: students must be high school graduates, completion of high school classes with "C" or better, and meet the Minimum Eligibility Index (for graduates of California high schools, or residents is 2900 and for non residents who are not graduates of California high schools the minimum index is 3502). The MIE is calculated by using the SAT I total score + 800 x (high school grade point average), or (10 x ACT composite score) + (200 x high school grade point average). Students are also required to take the following high school courses: 4 years of English, 3 years of Mathematics, 3 years of Natural Science, 3 years of Social Science, 2 years of Foreign Language, and 3 electives, with a C or better.
Basic Information (Description):
The BS in Computer Engineering offers students a high quality, practical and theoretical education. Students are exposed to hardware design, embedded systems, software design, and construction of computer networks. Candidates must also choose and area of specialization, taking electives beyond the core courses. The Department is also located in the center of the Silicon Valley, bringing a competitive advantage for those student who would like to work in the Computer Engineering business. Students are required to take 24 unit credits in General Education Requirements, 6 unit credits in American institutions, 2 unit credits in Physical Education, 35 unit credits of courses in Preparation for the major, and 73 credit-units for the major (mostly computer science courses and electives).
