Admission criteria to San Jose State University are the following: students must be high school graduates, completion of high school classes with "C" or better, and meet the Minimum Eligibility Index (for graduates of California high schools, or residents is 2900 and for non residents who are not graduates of California high schools the minimum index is 3502). The MIE is calculated by using the SAT I total score + 800 x (high school grade point average), or (10 x ACT composite score) + (200 x high school grade point average). Students are also required to take the following high school courses: 4 years of English, 3 years of Mathematics, 3 years of Natural Science, 3 years of Social Science, 2 years of Foreign Language, and 3 electives, with a C or better.
Basic Information (Description):
The BFA in Interior Design prepares students in design for the private and public sector. Students receive preparation in interior architecture with technology, business, science, design, laws, regulations,professional ethics, and art. Making an emphasis on critical thinking, design practice, studio projects, creativity, aesthetics, communication, and technology. Students must complete an internship in order to graduate. Students are required to take 42 credit-units of General Education Requirements, 6 credit units in American Institutions, 2 credit units in Physical Education, 15 credit units in pre-requisites for the major, 36 credit units in requirements for the major (mostly art, interior design, and general design courses), 9 credit units of general and art & design electives, and 12 credit units of courses that support the major.
