The College Preparatory Curriculum includes 4 English courses, 3 Mathematics courses, 3 Science Courses, 3 courses in the Social Sciences, 1 or 2 Computer Science courses, and a foreign language. Now, Mississippi residents and do not meet the requirements may enter the Academic Screening Program prior to the beginning of the summer session, and gain later admission and academic assistance if they have a minimum 2.00 GPA average. The BA in Studio Art allows students to master creativity, productivity, education, and research in the visual arts as well as in other liberal arts. According to the website Olemiss offers the most complete program in the Mississippi state. Students are exposed to courses in Western and non-Western art history, with a specific emphasis in Southern arts and architecture. The major is mostly done at the same time with a second major, and is thought for those students interested in the arts in the more liberal arts sense of the discipline, and not for those student who already know that they want to be artists.
