The MFA requires students to have BFA, and an undergraduate background appropriate for the specific area of specialty chosen by the student for graduate study. The department’s faculty and a Review Committee will evaluate the transcripts and portfolios submitted, expecting that those who do not have a BFA have at least substantial work in their portfolios and experience in the field.
Basic Information (Description):
The MFA in Textile Design offers students an individualized program, encouraging exploration and innovation in the discipline. The program emphasizes experimentation, production, in interdisciplinary way. The first year of study is experimental, students focus on enriching their creative foundation. The second year students start to solidify their individual artistic direction. Students are also required to work on a Graduate thesis including a solo exhibition, an oral review, and a written thesis documenting the theoretical part of the creative work. Facilities are excellent, with studios, machines, and everything a textile design graduate student may need.
