Prospective students of the sociology major are offered training in critical analytical skills, social relations, social systems, and varied subfields that include urban sociology racial and ethnic relations, among others. Since sociology is a broad field, graduates can find careers in medicine, law, market research, criminal justice, non profit organizations, and others. Required courses include: introductory sociology courses, six 200 or above level sociology courses, six 300 level courses, 2 seminars, and 2 statistics classes.
Basic Information (Description):
The General Studies program allows students to earn 62-66 semester-credit-hours, which places a student halfway through the 128 credit –hours required for the BA program. After the core curriculum is done, students may transfer their credits to any school or program within BU or other University to get a BA degree. The curriculum includes study in: the social sciences, History, Politics, Geology, Biology, English, Literature, and Physics.
