Basic Information (Description):
The BA in Art History offers students an opportunity to acquire critical skills in the visual arts, as well as a well-rounded liberal arts education. Students take courses in world traditions of art and visual culture in areas such as practices and forms. Students take a seminar, which surveys methodological approaches to art history that have shaped the discipline. Students are also required to complete an independent research by the end of the junior year. The curriculum offers freshmen seminars (wide variety of topics in art), topics in World art history (Africa, Latin America, Asia, medieval, Islamic, European, among others), and many other advanced courses that tackle in-depth topics in art history. Students are also required to complete an internship at a museum, art gallery, or other suitable institution. The major seems extremely thorough and well-developed, students interested in art (in all of its forms) should definitely consider it.
