Students will only be accepted to the PhD program through a recommendation of the History Department. Students who fulfill the language requirement will be given preference. GRE test results are required.
Basic Information (Description):
The PhD in History offers student exposure to the theories and methods of other historians; accepting, rejecting, and modifying them so that new ideas emerge through this intellectual dialogue. Areas of concentration are: Africa, Ancient, British, Byzantine, Early Modern Europe, East Asia, International, Latin America, Medieval, Middle East, Modern Europe, Russia, South Asia, and United States. Each concentration requires that the student knows a certain language that would enable him/her to conduct first-hand research.
