Application to Williams College is competitive. Students applying to the school should definitely take the strongest program of study offered by their high schools: advanced level courses, full College Preparatory Curriculum, SAT or ACT+ writing, extended involvement in school, community, and employment. The admissions team is looking for a unique eccentric class that has pursued its interest as well as leadership skills.
Basic Information (Description):
The BA in Comparative Literature offers students an opportunity to study literature from different cultural traditions to compare and contrast. Students take courses in different literature traditions from different parts of the world; form Imperial Russia to postmodern Tokyo. The major takes the critical approach, an interdisciplinary approach that includes disciplines such as art, history, anthropology, psychology, among others. Students may pick between two tracks: Comparative Literature (focusing on a specific language tradition) or Literary Studies (focusing on many national literature courses with more courses taught in English). The program seems suited for students interested in literature and in the different cultures around them.
