Admission for this program is rigorous. Admission requirements are: prospective students should hold a BA, BS, or equivalent. The student could be asked to make up for deficiencies in curriculum, based on the previously done academic work, if not all the requirements are covered. All candidates must also submit: official transcripts of each college or university attended; letters of recommendation from at least two faculty members in the proposed field of study; official test results of the GRE.
Basic Information (Description):
Students of the Master of Arts in English and American Literature are provided with comprehensive training in all English study areas. The Department offers courses in historical periods, authors, literary movements, literature theory, criticism, philology, and linguistics. The MA may be completed in two full-time semesters and the requirements are the following: eight graduate-level courses, reading knowledge of one foreign language, fulfilling a one-course linguistics/philology requirement, and one course in literary theory or history. The MA has no exams or thesis.
