Admision Requirements:
There are three paths to eligibility for freshmen: Eligibility in the Statewide Context: Students must complete specific coursework and college admissions tests and earn the required GPA and test scores, Eligibility in the Local Context (ELC): Students must rank in the top 4 percent of their graduating class at a participating California high school, and Eligibility by Examination Alone: Students must achieve specified high scores on their college admissions tests. Additionally, the University of California, Los Angeles requires applicants to take two SAT Subject Tests in two different subject areas, for example history and science, or literature and language other than English. The University does not accept the SAT Math Level IC examination in fulfillment of one of the SAT Subject Tests. Applicants to the Henry Samueli School of Engineering and Applied Science are strongly encouraged to take the SAT Math IIC and a science test (Physics, Chemistry, or Biology) that is closely related to the student's intended major.
Basic Information (Description):
Within the major students explore acting, design, directing, playwriting, and production to build a foundation for future creative work. Specialized and advanced training is available to prepare students for a variety of careers, further training, or graduate study. UCLA's theater program offers comprehensive training for the profession, as well as serious study of theater's long history and rich literature. The major Requires a total of 61 upper division units, including Theater 101A, 101B, 101C, 150 (must be taken for 4 units total), and 38 upper division elective units selected from courses 101A through 199 not otherwise specified as requirements.
