Admission for Emerson College is competitive. The most important criteria is the high school academic record (quality and level of the classes, average GPA, and grade trends) and SAT-I (average of 1140) or ACT tests. The committee also considers the personal statement, talents, work experience, the letter of recommendation, and extracurricular activities . International students must take the TOEFL and get a minimum score of 550 or better (213 or better on the computer-based TOEFL). Students must submit the application form, as well as an application supplement.
Basic Information (Description):
The BA in Theater Studies offers students an interdisciplinary program with emphasis on performing or non-performing concentrations. These could be dramaturgy, playwriting, management, design/technology, theater education, or directing. Students then pick a second set of courses from the Theater and Communication Departments. Students are encouraged to enroll in the internship program and/or to go abroad. Some of the available courses are the following: playwriting, African-American Art and Theater, Contemporary Women Playwrights, Queer Drama, theater into Film, Directing, Puppetry, and Performance and Culture among others.
