Admision Requirements:
Admission criteria to San Jose State University are the following: students must be high school graduates, completion of high school classes with "C" or better, and meet the Minimum Eligibility Index (for graduates of California high schools, or residents is 2900 and for non residents who are not graduates of California high schools the minimum index is 3502). The MIE is calculated by using the SAT I total score + 800 x (high school grade point average), or (10 x ACT composite score) + (200 x high school grade point average). Students are also required to take the following high school courses: 4 years of English, 3 years of Mathematics, 3 years of Natural Science, 3 years of Social Science, 2 years of Foreign Language, and 3 electives, with a C or better
Basic Information (Description):
The BA in Social Science offers students a possibility to acquire a general and broad background in the social sciences in general, Asian Studies, Women Studies, and Sociology. Students are required to take 42 unit credits in General Education Requirements, 6 unit credits in American institutions, 2 unit credits in Physical Education, 45-48 credit-units for the major (lower division and upper division courses in the Social Sciences), 15 unit credits in Asian American Studies, 15 unit credits in Comparative Studies in Race/Ethnicity, Class & Gender, 15 unit credits in Public Service and Societal Change, 18 unit credits in Women Studies, and 28-31 unit credits in electives.
